I decided to take my Minelab Excalibur 1000 with me down to 60 feet to try out my luck. It is rumored that there are old coins and tokens from the old farms sometimes found in this area. The only objects recovered in the 43 minute dive were fragments from m-79 grenades and one 30 cal. bullet. As I always say, it was done for fun, the thrill of the hunt. There’s always next time…..
So be sure to bring your diving gear because there are some great sights to see here. El Salvador diving tour companies offer day trips (during October-May, the dry season) to this beautiful ecologically-rich area and for treasure hunting, and prepare you for a day full of adventure in the open waters and also offer lessons and certification for those who are interested. This is definitely a must do for deep water lovers!
